Alright so everyone is on the same page, I'm making a topic explaining what I'm wanting to do with this game and how things will play out. My overall goal is a game that everyone will enjoy, so without further ado, I'll begin.
This is probably the most important part of this game so I'll hit this point first. Forget about how the game was constantly running in the past, your gameplay experience will happen only in campaigns.
Why a campaign only experience? Simple, it works. Why not the old style? It doesn't work. It's really that simple, in the past the game was constantly running and that worked then and that worked when the game was at Walker Valley, it has NEVER worked since. Several times in the past the Star Wars game has been "resurrected" only for it to return to the grave. Therefore, sicne the constant running system only worked in the past, it will stay that way.
Campaigns are where all of the action will (officially) happen, and they will happen often (in case somebody can't make it to one). I'm currently planning on doing one at least two campaigns per month, depending on what everyone wants to do, I may even offer them more often than that.
Campaigns will also be where (most of) our character development will happen. Not to mention the Leaderboards...
This will be one of the new features of this game, leaderboards will be a prestige thing that may expand into something more. Fairly straightforward, these leaderboards will feature the names of those who have come in 'first place' in events at the campaigns or they will feature the top duelists or whatever everyone seems interested in doing... Feel free to add suggestions
In the past there has always been a leveling system, since I am removing the non-campaign aspects of this game, there will be a choice as to whether or not there will even be a leveling system present, I have a few ideas on what I'm wanting to do here, but I'd like to see what you guys have to offer first.
Lightsabers, lightsabers, lightsabers... That's all there was in the past (except for a brief moment in which only a few remember), and it was glorious. Fighting each other with lightsabers has always been a big part of this game, and I don't intend on changing that, nope, I plan on improving it.
How could I possibly improve getting to hit each other with plastic lightsabers? Easy, throw more weapons into the mix. What weapons exactly? Nerf weapons, Nerf Guns, Nerf Swords, Nerf Axes, etc.
The damage systems with each of these will vary. What I am currently planning on doing is this; Lightsabers will always cut off limbs, Melee Weapons will do VP damage maybe? Nerf Guns may do the same thing, but may offer critical damage for head shots.
See, here's where I'm not sure what I'm planning on doing... I'm not sure if I even want to do a VP system for this game. This coupled with the lack of a wanting to do a leveling system has me at a loss... I'm considering having everyone possess a standard amount of VP, and maybe having items that vary that (armor maybe?), voice your opinions!
One thing I am wanting to keep and perhaps improve upon would be the FP system, I was considering doing a leveling system based upon FP for Jedi/Sith, but I dunno. Again, feel free to contribute.
Jedi, Sith, Guardian, Counsular, Marauder, Lord, right? That's all we've been given in the past, but I intend to offer many classes to players. So far I have the following...
- Supreme Chancellor
- Senator
- Stormtrooper
- Council Leader
- Council Member
- Jedi
- Dark Lord of the Sith
- Dark Lord's Apprentice
- Sith
- Dark Jedi
- Gray
- Bounty Hunter
... and more suggestions are welcome. These classes won't be very complex in nature so having many classes won't be an issue in that way. It should be obvious what each class does, but in case it isn't feel free to ask.
There will be a Role Playing (writing) element present with this game, it will supplement the campaigns and should lead up to major battles. I don't know what more to say here other than it's optional, you don't have to participate, but if it's something that you would be interested in feel more than happy to join in on it. (better ideas work too)
I am considering having items like "Cortosis Armbands", and "Bacta Packs" present in this game as well, the former to block at least one lightsaber shot, and the latter to heal without the use of the force.
Anyways, that's all for now... I know it's a large topic so feel free to only reply to parts of it, but this way everyone is on the same page.
